Civil Engineer

Civil engineers design, build, and supervise construction projects. They often work outdoors at construction sites so they can monitor what’s going on and solve problems when needed. They inspect the job site to make sure it meets all safety requirements. Civil engineers work on roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, dams, pipelines, power plants, and water and sewage systems.

Education
Civil engineers need a bachelor’s degree (four years) in civil engineering. A master’s degree or special license may also be required in some states.
