Carrots are a popular and delicious root vegetable. Root vegetables are vegetables that we eat the root of the plant. Carrots are annuals and need to be replanted each planting season.

Plant seeds directly in the ground or in containers 3-5 weeks before the last frost. Plant carrot seeds ¼ inch deep and 3-4 inches apart. Do not transplant carrots. Carrots will be ready to eat in 60-80 days. Usually the carrots will start to pop out of the soil to show they are ready. Carrots need full sunlight to grow well but they can have some shade. It is usually true that the smaller the carrot, the better the taste.
